Mervyn King

Mervyn King is a Senior Counsel and former Judge of the Supreme Court of South Africa. He is Professor Extraordinaire at the University of South Africa on Corporate Citizenship, Honorary Professor at the Universities of Pretoria and Cape Town, a Visiting Professor at Rhodes and is currently a professor at the Wits Business School at the University of the Witwatersrand. He is the Patron of The Good Governance Academy, currently housed in the Wits Business School in Parktown Ridge. He is the author of six books on governance, sustainability and reporting, the latest being “The Healthy Company” and sits as an arbitrator and mediator internationally.

 

Rogier Wezenbeek

Rogier Wezenbeek is a senior lawyer from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union (DG FISMA). He works in the unit dealing with corporate reporting, audit and credit rating agencies. Rogier has regular contacts with the PIOB and has participated in the discussions of the Monitoring Group on the strengthening of the international audit and ethics standard-setting system and the development of the Public Interest Framework. More recently, he has been involved in the preparation of the Commission proposal for a Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, on which the European Parliament and the Council reached a political agreement in June 2022. Before joining the Commission in 1993, he worked at the Ministry of Finance in The Netherlands.

 

José Luis Blasco

Jose Luis holds a degree in Chemistry and MBA from the IE Business School. He counts with +20 years of experience developing ESG strategies, reporting and assurance as a Partner at KPMG  in Spain, and as Global Head of Sustainability Services. In 2019, he joined ACCIONA as Global Chief Sustainability Officer. 

Mr. Blasco is a former member and one of the four rapporteurs of the Technical Expert Group in Sustainable Finance of the European Commission. He is a senior member of different advisory committees, such as the Spanish Forum for Responsible Finance (FINRESP) and the European Federation of Financial Analyst Societies (EFFAS). In 2022, he was appointed member of the European Market Securities Authority's Sustainability Advisory Committee.

 

Gilly Lord

Gilly is a PwC UK Partner and Chartered Accountant, she is the Global Leader for Public Policy & Regulation, in that role, Gilly represents PwC as a member of the Global Public Policy Committee (GPPC). Gilly is Chair of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) Audit and Assurance Faculty and is a Council Member at the ICAEW. Gilly is also a member of the audit committee of University College, Oxford. Previously Gilly has been the Head of Audit Strategy and Public Policy for the firm’s Audit Line of Service, PwC UK’s Head of Audit Strategy and Transformation, PwC UK’s Head of Regulatory Affairs and has led PwC’s top tier assurance practice. As well as more than 20 years of large listed external audit experience, Gilly has also been a Partner in PwC’s Financial Services regulatory team, leading regulatory investigations (s166s) and advising clients on the impact of regulation. This included time spent seconded to the FSA reviewing supervisory strategy for high impact firms'

 

Dave Sullivan

Dave Sullivan is a consultant and retired Certified Public Accountant based in the United States. Dave spent over 30 years as an audit partner at Deloitte. Prior to his retirement in 2021, he was the Global Audit & Assurance Quality Leader for Deloitte. In this role, Dave led Deloitte Global’s audit quality strategy to serve the public interest and enable global capital markets through the execution of high-quality audits by their 70,000 audit professionals worldwide.

 

Séverine Neervoort

Séverine Neervoort is responsible for the fund’s engagement with international organisations, policy makers and standard setters globally. Her focus is on sustainability, responsible investment, and corporate governance matters. She also represents NBIM on the Investor Advisory Group to the International Sustainability Standards Board and on the International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN) Natural Capital Committee. Prior to joining the Norwegian sovereign wealth fund, Séverine worked in the government and regulatory affairs department of an investment bank. She started her career in a public affairs firm in Brussels, where she built their financial services practice. Séverine holds a Master’s degree in international relations and politics from the London School of Economics and Sciences Po, Paris.
 

James Ferris

James has been the Financial Reporting Council’s (FRC) Director for UK Auditing and Assurance Standards since 2020. He is also responsible for the FRC’s Ethical Standard. The FRC is actively engaged in the audit reform process in the UK, including a recent revision of the UK’s auditing standard on fraud (ISA (UK) 240). The FRC also recently issued a Professional Judgement Framework with a focus on the public interest benefits and importance of audit. Further revisions to standards relating to auditor reporting and the Ethical standard are planned. James joined the FRC’s audit policy team in 2015 as a project director, having previously been an audit practitioner for 17 years. 
 

Meghan Clark

 Meghan Clark works on the Fund’s ‘Negative Selection Mandate’ looking for areas of un- or under-appreciated risk.  Prior to joining NBIM, she spent time working in the hedge fund industry in an investment capacity; with one of the Big Four providing accounting advisory services, primarily related to revenue recognition; and, as a research analyst at a forensic accounting-focused independent equity research provider.  She began her career as a Postgraduate Technical Assistant at the Financial Accounting Standards Board.  She is a Certified Public Accountant and sits on the UK Corporate Reporting Users' Forum.
 

Tshego Modise

Tshegofatso (Tshego) B. Modise is currently Head of Risk and Assurance in a global mining group company. Tshego has had experience as an independent director for a variety of non-governmental organizations (a bank, an accountancy college, and served extensively in accountancy professional bodies), both domestically and abroad, from 2007 through to 2019. The areas of expertise provided in such were in leadership (as president), finance, strategy, and regulatory compliance.
 
Tshego has headed transformational initiatives, such as leading the implementation of the Accountants Act of 2010 for BICA, and oversight over cost effective strategies and accountability matters.
 

Linda de Beer

PIOB Chair  Linda de Beer is a chartered accountant (SA), holds a master’s degree in taxation and is a professor in practice at the University of Johannesburg. She is a chartered director (SA), and serves as an independent non-executive director on a number of South African listed company boards. In addition, she has a long professional history of being involved in the setting, monitoring and oversight of reporting standards, corporate governance principles and related regulation.     

Linda de Beer was Chair of the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board’s Consultative Advisory Group (CAG) from 2010 – 2015. During her tenure, she also served on the CAG of the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants. Currently, she is focused on her existing corporate board appointments.
 

Gonzalo Ramos

  PIOB Secretary General 

Gonzalo Ramos is the Former Chair of the International Monetary Fund External Audit Committee. Previously, he was Executive Director for Spain and Mexico European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. As part of his main responsibilities he contributed to the EBRD corporate mission as a member of the Board of the Bank, and represented the interests of Spain and Mexico in its operations, including working with bankers and companies to develop projects and partnerships. He was also the Chairman of the EBRD Early Transition Countries Fund in 2008.
 

Paul Munter

  MG Co Chair  

Paul Munter was named the Acting Chief Accountant in February 2021. Since 2019, Mr. Munter served as Deputy Chief Accountant leading the international work in the agency’s Office of the Chief Accountant (OCA).   As Acting Chief Accountant, Mr. Munter serves as the principal advisor to the Commission on accounting and auditing matters. He also is responsible for assisting the Commission in discharging its oversight of the Financial Accounting Standards Board and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board.     Prior to joining the SEC, he had extensive professional experience in both academia and as a partner at a large accounting firm where he served as the lead technical partner for the U.S. firm’s international accounting and auditing activities and served on the firm’s panel responsible for establishing firm positions on the application of IFRS.
 

Jean-Paul Servais

He holds a Master of Law (Maîtrise en droit), Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB)  and Master of Economics in Business Management (Master in de economie, bedrijfskunde), Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB).
 

Rodrigo Buenaventura

Rodrigo is the Chairman of the Spanish Securities and Exchange Commission (CNMV). He was appointed in 2020 after serving as General Director of Markets for 3 years.  He is the former Director of Markets at the European Securities and Markets Authority. He holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration by Universidad Autónoma de Madrid
